Commitment to Social Change Scholarship

The Commitment to Social Change Scholarships are awarded to graduate (master's and doctoral) students new to Walden University who demonstrate the capacity to effect positive social change and, at the doctoral level, to conduct and succeed at research. : This scholarship is administered by the Office of the President, not the Office of Financial Aid.

Dave Palmer Military Scholarship

The Dave Palmer Military Scholarship, named for a former Walden president, is awarded to a doctoral student enrolled at Walden who has been on active duty with a branch of the U.S. armed forces for a minimum of 1 year. The recipient must demonstrate that the degree is a logical progression of personal and professional development, that the research component of the degree program relates to his or her professional obligations, and that the dissertation research will contribute directly to the enhancement of the mission of his or her service. : This scholarship is administered by the Office of the President, not the Office of Financial Aid.

National Public Service Scholarship

National Public Service Scholarships are awarded to doctoral students who have dedicated their careers-and continue to do so-to public service and to the nation, in either public or nonprofit agencies with a national focus, and who seek their degrees to enhance their effectiveness professionally and in service to the national community. : This scholarship is administered by the Office of the President, not the Office of Financial Aid.

Presidential Scholarship

The Presidential Scholarships are for graduates of a Walden master's program who are pursuing a doctorate degree at Walden. Applicants must demonstrate a personal, continued commitment to their chosen field and indicate how learning is applied to practice. : This scholarship is administered by the Office of the President, not the Office of Financial Aid.

Outside Scholarship Information

The Office of Financial Aid receives notification of various scholarships that are awarded by organizations other than the School of Law. These organizations have their own application and selection criteria for awarding private funds. Scholarships vary in amount and criteria and students are responsible for all application, renewal and disbursement paperwork.

CAPABA Educational Foundation (CEF) Scholarship
The Connecticut Asian Pacific American Bar Association (CAPABA) Educational Foundation Scholarship is to be awarded each academic year to an Asian Pacific American law student who demonstrates leadership potential, excellence in academia, a firm commitment and involvement with the Asian American community in Connecticut. Up to two $1,000 scholarships may be awarded at the CAPABA Annual Dinner on October 29, 2013, at the Omni Hotel in New Haven, Connecticut. Recipients are required to attend. Applications and additional information are available in the Law School Office of Financial Aid. The deadline for submission is October 15, 2013.

County Prosecutors Association of the State of New Jersey - Scholarships
The County Prosecutors Association of the State of New Jersey will award four $3,500 non-renewable scholarships (Harris Y. Cotton, Andrew K. Ruotolo, Jr., John H. Stamler, and Oscar W. Rittenhouse) to New Jersey residents enrolled in law school in fall 2013. Applicants can be either full or part-time students who have an interest in pursuing a career as a prosecutor. Additional scholarship specifics and applications are available at: http://www.cpanj.info/ . Completed applications must be postmarked by September 30, 2013.

Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association Scholarship
The Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association will award five $2,000 non-renewable scholarships to current law students, for the 2013-2014 academic year. Applicants do not need to be of Hispanic heritage, but must have a demonstrated commitment to the Latino community. Applications and additional scholarship information are available at www.ct-hba.org. All applications must be postmarked by September 30, 2013.

Western Carolina University - Donor Information

Outside Scholarships are those awarded by a source other than the Office of Financial Aid, a WCU department, or a WCU affiliate. Federal law requires that you notify the Financial Aid Office of any outside financial assistance you receive. Adjustments to Western Carolina University awards will be made if necessary. Failure to notify the University of outside awards may result in loss or reduction of financial aid from Western Carolina University.

2014-2015 Tuition Exchange Applications are Being Accepted

2014-2015 tuition exchange program applications for dependents of faculty and staff are being accepted in the Office of Financial Aid, Warde Academic Center room A216.

Saint Xavier University participates in three tuition exchange programs, which include: Council for Independent Colleges and Universities (CIC), Catholic College Cooperative Tuition Exchange (CCCTE), and Tuition Exchange Inc. Detailed information for the tuition exchange programs, along with the applications for each program, is available in the Office of Financial Aid or online.

Please note: the deadline for Tuition Exchange Inc applications is Oct. 31, 2013. Applications will be reviewed on Nov. 1, 2013. Due to the limited number of exchange scholarships available, applications will be certified according to the anniversary date of continuous full-time employment at Saint Xavier University.

Mission Statement

The Office of Financial Aid (OFA) at Bainbridge College assists students in obtaining resources to finance higher education.

Your Financial Aid will ONLY pay for classes that are in your primary major. Any classes that are taken outside of your primary major will not be paid for by financial aid. You will be responsible for paying for those classes.

How to Apply

You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to be considered for federal financial aid - see instructions below.

Please note to receive a student loan, you must complete a Bainbridge College loan application, Master Promissory Note and Loan Entrance Counseling.

You may submit the FAFSA by mail, or over the Internet, our school code is 011074. Once you receive the results back, in the form of a Student Aid Report (SAR), you must follow through with completing your financial aid file. Each situation is different, so you need to contact the OFA to find out what additional information is needed.

Upon the completion of your file, the OFA will notify you regarding eligibility for financial aid. Awards will be based on full-time enrollment; however, it is possible for you to be eligible if enrollment is less than full-time. Financial Aid may be any of the following:

• Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)


• Federal Work-Study Program

Scholarships

Carthage offers a number of competitive scholarships to prospective art majors, and smaller scholarships to art minors. These scholarships are awarded based upon a cumulative review of a candidate's application for admission to Carthage, in addition to a review of the applicant's Studio Art Portfolio by members of the faculty of the Art Department.

Portfolio Review

Students applying for an Art Scholarship at Carthage are asked to present a portfolio of their artwork for an in-person review. Faculty members will conduct portfolio reviews on the following dates:

• Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013


• Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013


• Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013


• Saturday, March 2, 2013

To make an appointment for a portfolio review, please contact the Division of Fine Arts at 262-551-5859. Many students have their portfolio reviewed when they are on campus for the Presidential Scholarship competition on one of the four dates listed above.

The results of all Studio Art Portfolio reviews will be included in applicants' financial aid packages developed in March by the Office of Financial Aid. Portfolios must be reviewed by the end of February to be considered as part of the financial aid package.

Portfolio Guidelines

The portfolio should consist of 15 art pieces in a variety of media. You are asked to bring a digital copy of the works on a CD with .jpg image files, in addition to the actual works on the day of your portfolio review. You will take the works themselves home after the review, but you will leave the CD for review by the entire Art Department faculty. The CD should include a text document with information about each piece in your portfolio, including title, date, medium, and size.

The following suggestions will help you in the selection of your work:

• Have an art teacher or mentor help you choose your best and most representative works. The works should represent a mature approach to applying basic art principals.


• The portfolio should demonstrate the breadth of accomplishment in different media such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, clay, metal, wood, etc. It is recommended that the portfolio include the variety of media that the applicant has studied.


• Works that are too large to be brought to Carthage may be represented only on the digital portfolio CD that you bring with you on the day of your review.


• All 2-D work should be matted and presented in a clean, professional manner. The work need not be framed.

Auditions and Scholarships

Auditions

All entering music majors and minors must pass an entrance audition for admission to the program. A panel of three or more members of the music faculty must approve that audition. Auditions include a demonstration of performance ability, a theory assessment, and a keyboard skills assessment. Additionally, students must demonstrate some proficiency with sight reading, scales (instrumental) and aural skills (vocal).

Scholarships

Carthage offers a number of generous Music Scholarships by audition to music majors and non-majors. These scholarships range from $2,000 to $13,000 a year and are renewable. Each year the College awards more than $150,000 in renewable scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded in the amounts of:

$13,000 - one award
$10,000 - $7,000 - three awards
$5,000 - $4,000 - nine awards
$3,000 - nine awards

The larger awards go only to music majors, but an additional number of renewable $2,000 scholarships are awarded to both majors and non-music majors who are required to participate in one of the concert organizations and, for the first two years, to study private music lessons.

Audition Dates

January 25, 2014

The results of all music auditions are included in students' financial aid packages sent out in March by the Office of Financial Aid.

Many students audition when they are on campus for the Presidential Scholarship competition. Many others audition on one of several scheduled audition days, on a Capture Carthage day, or within reason, by appointment. What to prepare

Two selections of music of contrasting style. There will be sight-reading and scales (major only) asked of instrumentalists, and sight reading and exercises in tonal memory for vocalists.

Percussion: Choose two of the following areas of performance: Snare Drum, Keyboard Percussion, Timpani, Drum Set (demonstrate time, skills and soloing) * If you are auditioning in two areas, please prepare 2 selections for your primary performance area and one for the secondary. Memorization of selections is preferred for vocalists.

Accompanist: We will provide an accompanist if needed. Please bring the music with you for the accompanist on the day of your audition. If you prefer, recorded accompaniment is acceptable.

Where to go

Auditions are held in the H.F. Johnson Fine Arts Center, room 140 or room 142. This building is located just south past the chapel. Turn right when you pass the chapel heading south. There is a visitor parking lot to your left. Our building is directly north. There are two sets of doors. Please enter the southwest doors, turn to your right and go downstairs. There are practice rooms available on both floors for pre-audition warm-ups.
