ITU offers scholarships to a select number of students every trimester. The application period is open the first two weeks of registration for each trimester. The scholarship awarded will be applied to the upcoming trimester's tuition.
Students are encouraged to complete and submit their application to Mr. Alex Peña, Academic Counselor, in the Academic Success Center, located on the 2nd floor next to the Admissions Office.
Dr. Shu-Park Chan Scholarship
The Dr. Shu-Park Chan Scholarship provides financial assistance to outstanding, qualified students in ITU's academic programs. Recipients will be awarded a tuition waiver of up to 9 units per semester.
Scholarship criteria:
- Must have 3.5 GPA or higher
- Resume
- Two letters of recommendations from Faculty
- Personal Statement (1-pg letter stating qualifications for scholarship)
- Scholarship Application Form
- ITU transcript (unofficial is acceptable)
Dr. Shu-Park Chan Research Scholarship
ITU's Research Scholarship is designed to support the growth of in-house research programs that meet the short-term and long-term mission and vision of the institution. Recipients will be awarded a monthly living stipend in an amount determined by the scholarship committee as well as a tuition discount (amounts are determined on a case-by-case basis).
There are a limited number of openings, based on department budgets allocated each fiscal year. Selection process is highly competitive.
Scholarship criteria:
- Must have 3.5 GPA or higher
- Resume
- Two letters of recommendations from Core Research Faculty
- Personal Statement (1-pg letter stating qualifications for scholarship)
- Scholarship Application Form
- ITU transcript (Unofficial Acceptable)
- Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in their field of research
- Must be actively engaged in a current ITU research project
Scholarship Approval Process
The Board of Trustees will approve the number of scholarships and stipend amount available through our budget approval process each year.
- Applications collected during the first two weeks of registration will be gathered and submitted to the Scholarship Committee for review. The Scholarship Committee consists of:
- Relevant Department Chair
- Chief Financial Officer
- University Registrar
- Director of Human Resources
- Associate Director of Innovation
- A list of final scholarship recipients will be sent to the Academic Quality Committee for approval.
- Scholarship recipients will receive a signed notice from the ITU Scholarship Committee one week before the first day of class.
- The training, even though it includes actual operation of the employer's facilities, is similar to training that would be given in a vocational school.
- The training is for the benefit of the student.
- The student does not displace regular employees, but works under the close observation of a regular employee.
- The student is not necessarily entitled to a job at the conclusion of the training period.
- The employer and the student understand that the student is not entitled to wages for the time spent training.
