E.S.C.A.P.E. to the Huizenga Business School Entrepreneurship One-Week Summer Camp, begins July 22 | NSU News Center


Need a break from the heat and boredom of the summer? Highschool students interested in entrepreneurship are invited to E.S.C.A.P.E. to the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurshipfor a one-week summer camp, July 22-26. Each day will be packed with lectures from NSU professors and South Florida business leaders, lively discussions and interactive exercises.Topics include:



  • Day 1: Introduction to entrepreneurship and business etiquette

  • Day 2: Developing a business plan

  • Day 3: Formulating a marketing plan

  • Day 4: Financial planning

  • Day 5: Leadership skills and presentation of business plans too CEOs

Campers will also get a sense of college life when they visit the Huizenga Business School, have lunch in the Don Taft University Center and tour NSU's campus.


The program will develop and enhance the following skills:



  • Creativity and innovation

  • Leadership

  • Communication - both oral and written

  • Team building

  • Presentation style

NSU Scholarship Reception Brings Hundreds to Campus | NSU News Center

NSU's Office of Undergraduate Admissions recently welcomed fall 2013 scholarship recipients at the Scholarship Reception, which was held at the Don Taft University Center on Saturday, April 20. Over 400 guests were welcomed for brunch by Jacqueline Travisano, M.B.A., CPA, executive vice president and chief operating officer and Stephanie G. Brown, Ed.D., vice president of Enrollment and Student Services.


Student speakers Roshni Patel and Sara Gawish spoke of their experiences as NSU students, and a vocal ensemble from NSU's Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences (FCAS) performed for attendees. Brad Williams, Ed.D., vice president of Student Affairs; Don Rosenblum, Ph.D., dean of FCAS; and Peter Finley, Ph.D., assistant professor with the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Entrepreneurship all congratulated each student on their academic achievements.

A Look Back at NSU's Weeks of Welcome Events | NSU News Center


NSU's Weeks of Welcome (WOW) got off to a great start. Click here to check out photos of recent events, and visit www.nova.edu/wow to see what's coming up next.


WOW event highlights:


* Grand Orientation kicked off the WOW schedule with "The Frenzy: A Black Light Party" that rocked the NSU Arena with over 700 students in attendance.


* NSU's Residential Life and Housing hosted a Welcome Back BBQ for all new and returning residents.


* The RecPlex welcomed students with a RecFest which included food and prizes.


* SEA Board sponsored a Movie Night with a showing of 42 in the NSU Residence Halls.


* The Student Employment Fair was held to let students know where they could find employment on campus.


* NSU's Farquhar College of Arts and Science held a Poetry Slam with students sharing their original work.


* NSU's Pep Rally and Spirit Day was held at the NSU Shark Fountain to kick of the beginning of Soccer and Volleyball seasons.


* The Fraternity and Sorority Welcome Back BBQ was hosted by fraternity and sorority chapters at NSU.


* Sharkapalooza: This year's Sharkapalooza, hosted by the Student Events and Activities (SEA) Board was bigger and better than ever! More than 1,200 students attended the event, which spanned all three courts of the NSU Arena at the Don Taft University Center. Sharkapalooza featured 135 tables filled with student organizations, NSU departments, novelties, and community vendors. NSU students also got to showcase various performances at the stage show. And to top it all off, students won some great giveaways. The WOW Contest grand prize winner was NSU athlete Danielle Robinson, who won a Getaway for Two, which includes round trip air fare anywhere in the continental United States.
