Grants are gift-aid that you may receive from the federal or State governments. This is a great type of financial assistance. Unlike student loans, Grants are not typically something that must be repaid. It is simply money that financially needy students may qualify for to pay educational expenses.
The federal government has two primary grants: Pell and SEOG. The state of Oklahoma also has two main grants: Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG) and the Oklahoma Higher Learning Access Program (OHLAP).
Langston University Scholarships
This application is for Freshman, Transfer, Continuing and Graduate Applicants. The Application Deadline is March 15th each year.
All Applicants
Applicants must submit a completed application to receive priority consideration for any Langston University scholarship. Scholarships are then awarded on a competitive basis by the school in which you are enrolled, or the department managing the specific scholarship for which you applied.
Applicants must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2013-2014 through www.fafsa.ed.gov and include the Langston University School Code: 003157.
Applicants must complete the ACT or SAT and have the results sent to the Office of Admissions at Langston University.
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in order to be considered for scholarships.
Langston Campus
Freshman Applicants
Applicants must submit a final, official, high school transcript.
Applicants must have taken the ACT or SAT and results must be on file with the University.
Transfer Applicants
Applicants must have completed at least 12 hours of college credit at an in-state or out-of-state institution with regional accreditation.
Applicants must submit official transcript(s) from all previous institutions.
Applicants must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) in undergraduate course work.
Applicants must maintain at least 24 earned hours in an academic year with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Continuing Applicants
Applicants must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) in undergraduate course work and be in good academic and judicial standing.
Applicants must not have earned a prior undergraduate degree.
Applicants must maintain at least 24 earned hours in an academic year with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Urban Campuses - LU-Tulsa and LU-OKC
Applicants must have completed at least 48 hours of college credit at an in-state or out-of-state institution with regional accreditation.
Applicants must submit official transcript(s) from all previous institutions.
Applicants must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) in undergraduate course work, and be in
good standing.
Applicants must maintain at least 12 earned hours in an academic year with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Continuing Applicants
Applicants must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) in undergraduate course work and be in good standing.
Applicants must maintain at least 12 earned hours in an academic year with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.
Graduate Applicants
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in order to keep scholarships throughout the academic year.
Applicants must be enrolled half-time (6 credit hours) in graduate course work, and be in good standing.
Applicants must have taken the GRE and results must be sent to Mr. James Wallace, Director of Career Placement and Assessment at Langston University.
