Scholarship Application

When you click the Apply Now button above, you will be taken to the Foundation Scholarship Application Sign Up Page. In order to sign up you must use your SPC issued student email that contains spcollege.edu . Upon signing up, you will receive a confirmation email to ensure your identity. Please make sure to check your spam folder for this email. Once you have confirmed your account, you can begin accessing the system. After signing on, answer all the questions on the General Application. Skipping questions can reduce your chances of being matched to all possible scholarships.

Some scholarships will require additional information and thus additional questions will need to be answered. Please keep in mind that the additional scholarships listed are "recommended" and does not constitute qualification. Only apply for scholarships that match your qualifications.

TIP: The application has a 60-minute time out. If you don't click the save button within that time frame, you will lose everything you have typed in the application to that point.

Essays

As part of the application, you will be asked to answer 4 essay questions. The questions are:

  1. From a financial standpoint, what impact would this scholarship have on your education? Also, state any special personal or family circumstances affecting your need for financial assistance.

  2. Briefly describe your long- and short-term academic and career goals.

  3. Describe a significant setback, challenge or opportunity in your life and the impact that it has had on you.

  4. Why should you be selected for a scholarship or grant?

The maximum length provided for each essay is 300 words. While there is no minimum length, make sure your answers are thoughtful and fully address the question.

TIP: When you get to the essay question portion of the application, it is best to save the application and type the answers to the essays in a word processing software and then copy and paste them into the application. Or, you can prepare your answers before beginning the application and then copy and paste them in when you get to the essay section.

Letters of Recommendation

The application asks for 4 names and email addresses for letters of recommendation. Your references will receive an email asking them to complete their letter of recommendation for you online. All Foundation scholarships require a minimum of two letters of recommendation by the deadline listed above to be considered for any award.

Letters of recommendation should come from individuals who know your academic ability, involvement on campus or in the community, or who can attest to why you should be a scholarship recipient.

TIPS:

Pay special attention when entering email addresses in the online application. Double check to make sure the addresses are correct. Your recommender will not receive an email if the address is incorrect.

Contact your recommenders prior to putting their name and email address into the application. Let them know they will be receiving an email requesting a recommendation to avoid the email being overlooked.

Check on your recommendations frequently. It is your responsibility to keep in contact with your recommenders and make sure the Foundation receives 2 recommendations for you. If they have not responded, you can send them an e-mail reminder. Additionally, if a recommender has not replied, you can withdraw a recommender and put in a new one. You can manage your recommendations from your application.
