Support Transforming Lives: The Campaign for Scholarships and Programs
The need is great for student scholarships and program support. To meet that need, the GLBTAA has launched the GLBTAA Scholarship Campaign. This Campaign will dramatically change the lives of students with more scholarship opportunities and programs. With generous gift-matching, this Campaign makes supporting GLBT and ally students more compelling than ever.
The Indiana University Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Alumni Association (GLBTAA) was formed "to improve the quality of life for GLBT students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Indiana University on all eight campuses."
To further this mission, the GLBTAA needs your support for two important ongoing initiatives: providing scholarships, and offering a "home away from home" for IU GLBT students.
We award "emergency" scholarship grants to students who have lost financial support from their parents after disclosing their sexual orientation or gender identity, ensuring that they can continue their IU education. We also award academic scholarships to students, on any IU campus, based upon their academic achievement and leadership on GLBT issues.
Additional programs are offered through the GLBT Student Support Services (GLBTSSS) office, which serves as a "home" for countless students, easing their fear and isolation as they face the challenges of accepting their sexual orientation or gender identity.
To advance these important initiatives, we have launched the GLBTAA Scholarship Campaign and created the GLBTAA Student Program and Scholarship Fund. This Campaign, the first of its kind, aims to provide support for IU student scholarships within the Indiana University gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community. The Campaign also includes a $50,000 commitment to the GLBTSSS office. We have set a goal of $1 million for this groundbreaking Campaign.
As a part of our Campaign, we are pleased to announce that we have an anonymous donor who has made a challenge gift of up to $500,000 for every dollar raised. With your help, we will leave a lasting legacy and transform the lives of our students.
