These academic scholarships are awarded based upon ACT/SAT scores, grades, other indicated criteria, and in many cases financial need.
Entering freshmen must submit an application for admission to the University along with an official high school transcript and ACT or SAT score by the indicated scholarship deadline. All freshmen admitted to the University as of the scholarship deadline will be included in the applicant pool.
The information listed below is in affect beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year. For scholarship information concerning current scholarship recipients please refer to your scholarship award letter or contact the Office of Admission.
Frances O. Cannon Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to junior or senior (70 hours minimum) in early childhood or elementary education major making satisfactory progress toward their degree.
Mabel Caley Kelly Carlton Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to a student in early childhood or elementary education with financial need. TEP admission required.
Geraldine M. Chase Memorial Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Elementary major interns.
Leon K. and Cora Tate Clemons Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to sophomores, juniors and seniors in teacher education. TEP admission required.
Mildred Mason Cook Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to a student in elementary education with financial need. TEP admission required.
Rachel Brown Fowler Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to an education student during their internship semester.
Catherine Bailey Jackson Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to a student in early childhood or elementary education with financial need.
Elsie Archer Jones Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to a full-time junior or senior majoring in early childhood, elementary or secondary education. TEP admission required.
Jeanetta Corbett Keller Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to a sophomore, junior or senior full-time student majoring in early childhood or elementary education or a student seeking teacher certification.
Bobbie Kirkland Lightfoot Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to a student in early childhood or elementary education during internship semester.
Lulu Rainer Palmer Memorial Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to a junior or senior majoring in early childhood education who is on schedule for teaching internship or senior internship during year of award. Minimum 3.25 GPA.
Margaret Saxon Scarborough
Amount Varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to a student in early childhood education with financial need. TEP admission required.
Mary Catherine Jones Winslett Memorial Scholarship
Amount varies. Deadline: March 1. Available to entering freshmen graduating from Calera High School. Preference: Math major.
Minority Educators Scholarship Program
Amount varies. Deadline: February 15. Available to minority students pursuing teaching careers. Minimum ACT score of 20 or SAT score of 950. Minimum GPA of 2.50 earned in high school or college work.
