Morgan Community College :: CACE Presents CSU Symphony Orchestra


Fort Morgan, CO. 09/12/13. The Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE), part of Morgan Community College, will host the Colorado State University Symphony Orchestra on Friday, September 20 at 7 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Auditorium at Fort Morgan High School.


The group will perform the majestic Sibelius Symphony No. 2, part of the repertoire of the world's great orchestras. Orchestra members will also hold music clinics with local middle school and high school students the afternoon prior to the concert.


The nearly 90 member ensemble serves as an introduction and training ground for a professional orchestral career as well as a place for music educators to become steeped in the science of how large ensembles work. Recent works performed by the CSU Orchestra include Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra, Respighi's Pines of Rome, Mahler's " Symphony No. 1 "Titan," Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, Ravel's Rapsodie Espagnole, and R. Strauss' Till Eulenspiegel.


Ensemble director Professor Wes Kenney is also Music Director of the Fort Collins Symphony, Music Director of Opera Fort Collins, and is the winner of the 2007 Varna International Conducting Competition. Maestro Kenney was also recently appointed the Music Director of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra (DYAO).
